Mitaka Ryokan Akakura is a small ryokan and restaurant with Japanese style rooms, bunk rooms and an onsite onsen (hot spring baths) which provide a relaxing end to a day on the ski slopes.
Located at the highest altitude of Akakura Onsen Ski Area, Mitaka Ryokan Akakura offers hot spring accommodation with the ski piste right behind the building and only 30 metres from the closest lift (Yodel quad) at Akakura Onsen Ski Resort. Enjoy the dazzling views of Lake Nojiri and Iiyama mountain range from this Akakura ski in, ski out ryokan.

Villa Monrepos, Akakura, Myoko Kogen
Located right alongside of the piste at Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Villa Monrepos offers simple ski in, ski out, Japanese and Western-style accommodations with views of Myoko Highlands. It has a great family lodge feel with a central fireplace and lounge area adjacent to a cafe and bar for some relaxing Apres drinks. The whole lodge sleeps 24 which also makes it perfect for a large group that wants to have a lodge to themselves (contact us for a quote)
Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas and guests can use the ski storage on site. A free shuttle is available from JR Myoko Kogen Train Station, which is a 10-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking.
Guests stay in rooms with tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding or in rooms with Western beds on carpeted floors. A flat-screen TV is included in all rooms and slippers are provided for all guests. Most rooms share bathrooms and toilets, while some rooms have an en suite bathroom. Make sure to choose the correct option when booking.
Guests can enjoy playing card games by the fireplace at the shared lounge and rent ski equipment on site. Free parking is available and luggage storage is provided at the front desk.
Japanese and Western set menus are served for breakfast and dinner. All meals are provided at the dining room.
Monrepos Villa is a 15-minute walk from Akakura hot-spring district and a 15-minute drive from Myoko Suginohara ski resort. Lake Nojiri is a 15-minute drive away and JR Nagano Train Station is a 1-hour drive away.

The Akakura Kanko Hotel is is the most famous of all Myoko Kogen hotels and is regarded as a Japan ski industry icon. The hotel was built in 1937 and still retains its sense of history. This classic European style hotel, the first of it’s kind in Japan, is perched 1000 metres high on the slopes of Shin-Akakura (Akakan) ski area where one can ski in and ski out. Next door to Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Akakura Kanko Hotel boasts a golf course, a tennis court and a spa centre. It features a top-floor terrace with panoramic views, 3 restaurants and hot spring baths.
Expect a high standard of service and enjoy a hot spring on the balcony in the snow with a view reaching all the way to the Sea of Japan. The host of facilities at the Akakura Hotel Kanko include two different onsen (mineral hot springs), an indoor pool, two restaurants, as well as a lobby and lounge bars. Elegant rooms have soft lighting, a seating area and a flat-screen TV. A DVD player, an air humidifier and yukata robes are provided. The bathroom offers Clarins toiletries for the female skin.
Guests at Kanko Akakura Hotel can unwind in an indoor or outdoor public hot spring bath, which are separate per gender, or rent a private hot spring bath. They can enjoy a Thai massage or a French facial treatment, or work out at the gym. Western cuisine can be enjoyed at restaurant Sorbier, while Kura specialises in sushi, and Shirakaba serves seasonal Japanese cuisine. All restaurants offer spectacular views of the area. The hotel also houses a café terrace, a bakery and a bar.
There are 60 guest rooms in both Western and Japanese styles. Free Wi-Fi is available.
