Alpenblick Hotel is a ski in, ski out Myoko hotel at the base of Ikenotaira Onsen Ski Resort. The hotel’s superb location allows you to enjoy a picturesque view of Mt. Myoko and Lake Nojiri. Hotel Alpen Blick boasts an outdoor hot spring bath with mountain views, its own beer brewery and rooms with a Japanese-style area. The lobby offers free Wi-Fi, and ski gear rentals are available.

The hotel offers three types of spacious guest rooms: purely Japanese rooms (6), Japanese/Western-style combination rooms (70) and special suites (2) – 78 in total, each assuring you a relaxing stay.

Guests at Alpen Blick can relax in a spacious indoor or outdoor public hot spring bath, which is separate per gender. Offering ski-to-door access, the non-smoking hotel houses a free-use internet PC, drinks vending machines and a souvenir shop. Free parking is on-site.

Cosy rooms have a sofa, a TV and a Japanese-style area with a tatami (woven-straw) floor and a low table with seating cushions. They’re fitted with a fridge and an en suite bathroom, while toiletries and yukata robes are provided.

A daily breakfast buffet with Japanese food is offered at the dining room, while for dinner guests can enjoy a buffet of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes.

The open-air onsen bath uses unfiltered hot water straight from the “Kuro-doro” (the so-called black mineral) hot-spring source at Mt. Myoko’s Minami Jigoku-dani Valley – the most effective way to take advantage of its medicinal efficacies. Characterized by its impressive black mineral deposits, the hot-spring water enjoys a high reputation as being effective for neuralgia, female disorders, chronic skin diseases and motor impairment. Without doubt, it’s also good for refreshing yourself from the day’s fatigue after trekking, skiing or snowboarding.

Hotel Alpen Blick is only a 10-minute drive from the Myoko Kogen Golf Club and Myoko-Kogen Train Station.

Located right alongside of the piste at Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Villa Monrepos offers simple ski in, ski out, Japanese and Western-style accommodations with views of Myoko Highlands. It has a great family lodge feel with a central fireplace and lounge area adjacent to a cafe and bar for some relaxing Apres drinks. The whole lodge sleeps 24 which also makes it perfect for a large group that wants to have a lodge to themselves (contact us for a quote)

Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas and guests can use the ski storage on site. A free shuttle is available from JR Myoko Kogen Train Station, which is a 10-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking.

Guests stay in rooms with tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding or in rooms with Western beds on carpeted floors. A flat-screen TV is included in all rooms and slippers are provided for all guests. Most rooms share bathrooms and toilets, while some rooms have an en suite bathroom. Make sure to choose the correct option when booking.

Guests can enjoy playing card games by the fireplace at the shared lounge and rent ski equipment on site. Free parking is available and luggage storage is provided at the front desk.

Japanese and Western set menus are served for breakfast and dinner. All meals are provided at the dining room.

Monrepos Villa is a 15-minute walk from Akakura hot-spring district and a 15-minute drive from Myoko Suginohara ski resort. Lake Nojiri is a 15-minute drive away and JR Nagano Train Station is a 1-hour drive away.

 Akakura Kanko Hotel information

The Akakura Kanko Hotel is is the most famous of all Myoko Kogen hotels and is regarded as a Japan ski industry icon. The hotel was built in 1937 and still retains its sense of history. This classic European style hotel, the first of it’s kind in Japan, is perched 1000 metres high on the slopes of Shin-Akakura (Akakan) ski area where one can ski in and ski out. Next door to Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Akakura Kanko Hotel boasts a golf course, a tennis court and a spa centre. It features a top-floor terrace with panoramic views, 3 restaurants and hot spring baths.

Expect a high standard of service and enjoy a hot spring on the balcony in the snow with a view reaching all the way to the Sea of Japan. The host of facilities at the Akakura Hotel Kanko include two different onsen (mineral hot springs), an indoor pool, two restaurants, as well as a lobby and lounge bars. Elegant rooms have soft lighting, a seating area and a flat-screen TV. A DVD player, an air humidifier and yukata robes are provided. The bathroom offers Clarins toiletries for the female skin.

Guests at Kanko Akakura Hotel can unwind in an indoor or outdoor public hot spring bath, which are separate per gender, or rent a private hot spring bath. They can enjoy a Thai massage or a French facial treatment, or work out at the gym. Western cuisine can be enjoyed at restaurant Sorbier, while Kura specialises in sushi, and Shirakaba serves seasonal Japanese cuisine. All restaurants offer spectacular views of the area. The hotel also houses a café terrace, a bakery and a bar.

Sora Tobu Usagi Myoko is very popular ski in, ski out accommodation in Myoko. This inn offers comfortable and affordable Suginohara Ski Resort accommodation and even got a mention in Qantas Travel Insider. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the Myoko Suginohara ski area trails, with one of the chairlifts going almost past the window. Rooms feature a tatami (woven-straw) floor, a low table with seating cushions and traditional futon bedding. They’re fitted with an LCD TV, air conditioning/heating and an alarm clock. Bathroom facilities are shared, and towels can be rented. There’s an in-house restaurant, ski rental, free wi-fi in common areas, coin-operated laundry facilities and internet access. For dinner, Sora Tobu Usagi Myoko offers a Japanese or Western meal.

They also have some self-contained accommodation which is very neat and cosy and would be ideal for a family or small group of friends. However you need to bring your food/utensils up as there is no shop within walkable distance.
