The bright and airy rooms at Bunk Guest House are mostly western-style rooms that can fit up to 4 people. Some come with lofts and there is also one Japanese style room.The choices are Japanese-style room with loft, Superior western room, Standard western room room or Twin western room with loft. All rooms have a flat-screen TV and feature free WiFi. Bathrooms are shared use and there no rooms with ensuite. The common baths are open 24 hours.

Bunk Guesthouse Myoko is ideal for group and families with both short and long term stays available. Enjoy the ambience of the lounge/dining area in front of a log fire with picture windows over forest and snowy fields. Free coffee and tea is available at all times in the lounge area.

The lodge is about 6-7 minutes drive from Myoko Kogen train station and collection is available if prior notice is provided. Shuttles to other nearby ski resorts in the Myoko area are possible including Madarao and Tangram.

There is a ski pass sales point at reception with discounted lift tickets available. Basic ski equipment hire is available at a very reasonable rate (from 1,000 yen a day) with a ski storage/drying room in the basement which also has hot waxing equipment. Free private parking is available on site.

Located right in front of Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Hotel Silverhorn is a popular and inexpensive hotel that offers simple Japanese-style rooms with great mountain views (see below). Located right across the road from the Akakan Sky Cable Gondola, you can be on the slopes at Akakura Kanko Ski Resort within a minutes walk out the door of Hotel Silverhorn.

All 15 rooms at the Hotel Silverhorn are Japanese style and have shared bathroom facilities. There is free wi-fi available in all guests rooms and in the lobby area as well. Rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each room comes with heating facilities, a TV and an alarm clock. Small towels and toothbrush sets are provided for all guests, while Japanese Yukata robes and large towels can be rented for an extra charge.

A coin-launderette is on-site and guests can enjoy complimentary green tea. Ski storage is available and ski passes can be purchased at the front desk.

The Akakura Kanko Hotel is is the most famous of all Myoko Kogen hotels and is regarded as a Japan ski industry icon. The hotel was built in 1937 and still retains its sense of history. This classic European style hotel, the first of it’s kind in Japan, is perched 1000 metres high on the slopes of Shin-Akakura (Akakan) ski area where one can ski in and ski out. Next door to Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Akakura Kanko Hotel boasts a golf course, a tennis court and a spa centre. It features a top-floor terrace with panoramic views, 3 restaurants and hot spring baths.

Expect a high standard of service and enjoy a hot spring on the balcony in the snow with a view reaching all the way to the Sea of Japan. The host of facilities at the Akakura Hotel Kanko include two different onsen (mineral hot springs), an indoor pool, two restaurants, as well as a lobby and lounge bars. Elegant rooms have soft lighting, a seating area and a flat-screen TV. A DVD player, an air humidifier and yukata robes are provided. The bathroom offers Clarins toiletries for the female skin.

Guests at Kanko Akakura Hotel can unwind in an indoor or outdoor public hot spring bath, which are separate per gender, or rent a private hot spring bath. They can enjoy a Thai massage or a French facial treatment, or work out at the gym. Western cuisine can be enjoyed at restaurant Sorbier, while Kura specialises in sushi, and Shirakaba serves seasonal Japanese cuisine. All restaurants offer spectacular views of the area. The hotel also houses a café terrace, a bakery and a bar.

Hotel Moc Myoko enjoys a fantastic location right opposite the Akakura Kanko (Akakan) Ski Resort. The Moc Hotel accommodation comprises of twelve semi-Japanese and three Western style rooms. Moc Hotel amenities include washer/dryer, internet access as well as a ski rental shop, while ski passes can be purchased at the front desk as well.

The guest rooms at Moc provide spectacular views of Mt. Myoko to the west, and Mt. Madarao to the southeast. The minimalist rooms feature TVs, wood floors and separate sitting areas. Some have sofas, while others feature tatami floors and traditional short-legged tables. Both their combination rooms bring together Japanese style with Western bedding. Beds are also available in the Moc twin rooms on both the third and fourth floors.

Kogakuro Hotel (a.k.a. Kougakuro or Kogakuro Ryokan) has friendly English speaking staff who understand the needs of international visitors and their Akakura accommodation. It is well located in Akakura Village near the base of the Akakura Onsen ski and snowboard resort in Myoko Kogen.
