Japow House: Overview

Japow House is situated in Akakura Onsen, Myokokogen. This hostel features cosy rooms,  male-only and female-only dormitories plus an on-site bar. Free wifi is offered throughout the property and free private parking is available on site (4WD only).

A shuttle service from the Myoko bus stop to the property is available upon request at a charge (please reserve 24 hours in advance). Guests can use the refrigerator, rice cooker, toaster, micro-wave oven, electric kettle, electromagnetic cooker as well as dishes and seasoning. Bathrooms and toilets are shared with other guests.

This guest house has ski storage space and ski equipment hire is available. You can engage in various activities, such as skiing and golf. Towels, bath towels, toothbrushes, yukata, etc., are not included in the room (hand towels and tooth brushes are available for sale). Japowhouse is a non-smoking guesthouse and therefore smoking is not allowed inside of the building.

A.I.R. (artist in residence) Myoko is a boutique ski chalet, chef’s table, design atelier and gallery, located in Myoko, Japan. Formerly known as Akutsu Pension, AIR Myoko enjoys a great ski-in / out location in front of the Akakura Onsen and Akakan ski areas, near the Yodel Lift #1. Only a 10-minute taxi ride from Myoko Kogen Station, A.I.R. Myoko offers recently updated Japanese and Western-style accommodations with free WiFi. Guests can refresh in the cosy public hot-spring baths after a long day of skiing. It’s light sodium sulphur content is particularly good for skin conditions, stomach problems and rheumatism. From this pension it is just a short walk downhill to the main street of Akakura Onsen ski village where there is a great selection of restaurants and shops.

Daimaru is conveniently located in a great position in Akakura Onsen Village. The location is perfect – only a short walk away from ski lifts/slopes, and features stunning mountain views. It is a quick 5 minutes shuttle to the base Akakura Kanko Ski Resort.

The rooms have a combination of Japanese and Western facilities and are simply furnished with Japanese decor. En suite bathrooms are standard. There is a choice of either large traditional Japanese room with futon bedding, a private toilet, wash basin & a shared communal bathroom or large Western style rooms with western beds & a full private ensuite.

Breakfast is included for all guests and is a buffet meal featuring both Japanese and Western dishes. Budget ryokan accommodation backing onto Akakura Onsen Ski Resort

Ginmeiso is a cosy and basic ryokan inn backing onto the Akakura Onsen Ski Resort.  Ginmeiso offers a traditional Japanese-style stay for those on a budget with hot spring baths and friendly service. There are only 9 rooms available and rates start at only 8,000 yen for a twin room.

Located near the bottom of the village it is a short walk to Akakura Onsen and a 7-minute walk to Akakan Ski Resort and the resort shuttle stop.

 

At Ginmeiso, guests can relax in the hot spring baths and use the luggage storage service. Vending machines are also available.

Offering simple Japanese rooms with free wired internet and shared bathrooms, Matsuya Ryokan is a 2-minute walk from Akakura Onsen Ski Resort. The Akakura Kanko resort shuttle stops nearby. The ryokan features a hot-spring bath and traditional meals.

Rooms at Ryokan Matsuya Akakura Onsen have futon bedding and tatami (woven-straw) floors. All are air-conditioned and include a TV. Both toilets and bathrooms are shared.

The ryokan is 5.5 km from JR Myoko Kogen Train Station. Imori Ike Pond is a 10-minute drive away. On-site parking is free.

Akakura Refre Hotel (a.k.a. Rifle Hotel Myoko) is fabulously located accommodation only a very short walk from the Akakura Onsen and Akakura Kanko (Akakan) lifts, plus just a few steps to the main street of Akakura and restaurants. You can’t get much more convenient or comfortable in Myoko than at Refre Akakura.

This newly renovated hotel offers quality accommodation, a clean, modern design, but one that still keeps the best traditions of Japan alive. With only 9 rooms in the lodge you are guaranteed personal service from the friendly host and a great experience of traditional Japanese hospitality. All rooms are large with ensuite bathrooms available in the combination rooms, whilst the western twin and standard Japanese rooms have a toilet and basin with onsen access. The onsen (see pic below) can be privately booked for families and couples to enjoy bathing together. All the rooms are air-conditioned and come with a flat-screen TV and a private toilet.

Delicious Japanese and Western-style set menus are available for breakfast and dinner. The Japanese meals are also available for walk-in visitors. All meals are served at the dining room (see pic below). The Refre house chef is proud of a menu that covers everything from solid, simple fare like ankake age soba (fried noodles topped with a delicious mix of stir-fried fish and vegetables in a rich sauce) and kaizen-don (a selection of the best from the sea, served on rice in a bowl) to multi-course Japanese meals and their famous spareribs. There is an early evening happy hour every day in the hotel lobby for both guests and visitors.
