Myoko Ikenotaira Ryokan Gen
Surrounded by beautiful white birch trees, the Syumisen-no-yu Ichinoyado Gen (or Myoko Ryokan Gen) has recently re-opened. Gen is a classic and quiet 14-room Japanese country house style ryokan inn just an easy walk from the Ikenotaira chairlifts. This establishment has been featured multiple times on national TV. It’s outdoor and indoor hot spring baths are a special place where guests can truly unwind. The open-air bath Ochiba-no-yu, nestled among trees and featuring a unique wood tunnel walk-through, is available all through the year for private use. Free wi-fi is provided in public areas and some rooms plus the Myoko Snow Shuttle stops right at the entrance to the ryokan. All rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV, a fridge, seating area and private bathroom. There is one room available with a private balcony onsen and another room with western style beds. The Gen chef was trained in a prestigious traditional restaurant in Kyoto and is proud to bring guests the local tastes of Echigo.
