Some snow but more needed. Hakuba Snow Forecast & Report Dec 18, 2012

The Hakuba weather forecast was a bit off and the hoped for snow hasn’t arrived as yet. There’s been some fine dry stuff falling higher up in the mountain (where it’s about  -3 ℃) with about 2-5cm of fresh snow but only flurries down in the village. The Hakuba snow forecast is a little uncertain but maybe leaning more towards some clear days for the next little while. However the Christmas forecast is looking very promising. Today might be a nice day to drop in for a coffee and bite to eat at Pilar in Happo-one.

The snow condition is generally hard packed with some bare patches showing on the lower slopes at some Hakuba resorts. The upside is that the crowds seem to have disappeared today.

Current snow depths in Hakuba (thanks to Snow Navi):

  • Happo-one – 150cm
  • Tsugaike – 240cm
  • Goryu – 170cm
  • Hakuba 47 – 120cm
  • Iwatake – 115cm
  • Kashimayari – 60cm
  • Norikura – 55cm
  • Cortina – 140cm
